hey again! 😎

If you needed a refresher—my name is Jihyun (지현) and I’m a product designer dedicated to building human-centered digital experiences ☻.

I recently graduated UC Berkeley with Bachelor's of Arts degrees in Media Studies and Psychology, and am now cuddled back in my sunny hometown of Southern California.

My strong suit of detail-orientation and communication helps me produce empathetic and creative solutions, helping my constant hunt to learn how to create the most accessible and sustainable designs.

why do i design?

I first tumbled upon the field of design during college. Before then, I only had experience with traditional art and thought design to be a subset of art–simply creative and aesthetic. However, after joining the design community at Berkeley, I quickly realized that design, especially UX design, focused on humans and on empathy. As someone who gave up art school and turned to psychology for a career, UX design felt almost destined: it was the perfect intersection of creativity and human-centered thinking.

Whilst exploring design and using it to solve real-life problems in my student organizations, I fell in love with not only the process but its full-potential–how design can construct experiences, emotions, knowledge, and more.

👉 Design shapes the world and how we interact with it. I am a firm believer in the impact of design and its importance in creating a more connected, empathetic society.
